Media heiress Anne Cox Chambers passed away on January 31, 2020, at the age of 100.
Cox is survived by her family, consisting of two daughters, a son, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The late billionaire was one of the richest media tycoons in the world, and her company raked in more than $21 billion in 2019.
At the time of her demise, she was worth around $17 billion. This, combined with the net worth of her family, amounted to $33 billion, making them the 14th richest family in the world. Cox passed away at her Atlanta residence tucked away in the brush.
Her father, James M. Cox, started the company in 1898, and it slowly became one of the most profitable media companies in the world.
In addition to this, James M. Cox was also a politician who ran for office in 1920 with running mate Franklin D. Roosevelt. He started the company after buying a single newspaper in Dayton, Ohio, USA.
Anne Cox Chambers’ wealth was inherited by her children, making them instant billionaires while hers, technically, depreciated 99%. As of February 2020, Alex Taylor is the CEO/President of the media giant.
In a similar fashion, she had dissolved her trust and distributed some wealth to her children in 2013.
