    Ashleigh Barty, who is famous for name Ash Barty is an Australian professional tennis player who started playing tennis at the age of four. As of early 2020, she is a top-ranked player in both women single and double. According to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), in singles, she is the No.1 player in the world while in doubles, she ranks in 5th position.  

    She took a break from tennis for around two years from September 2014 to February 2016 and came back with a bang. In 2017 and 2018, she was announced as the Female Sportsperson of the Year at the National Dreamtime Awards.       

    From her successful playing career, she has accumulated $15 Million net worth as of early 2020. To this date, she has won a prize of $16,515,667. Almost 80 percent of her earning is from her amazing gameplay in 2019.

    Career In Brief

    Barty started her professional career in 2010, playing her first ITF tournament. After a year, she won the Wimbledon junior tournament against Irina Chromatsjova. In 2012, she received a wildcard for the Australian Open after ranking second in the junior ranking game. Following this, she rose to fame as a doubles player.

    From September 2014 to January 2016, she took a hiatus from tennis and started playing cricket as she was interested in it as well and participated in the Brisbane Heat cricket team.  

    Her career in tennis took a breakthrough in 2017 after she was able to win the Kuala Lumpur tournament. In the finale, she beat Nao Hibino with a straight-set of 6-3 and 6-2, and after this, she placed in the top 100 of WTA rankings. 

    In September 2018, the player doubled with Coco Vandeweghe and won the US Open. A few months later, in June 2019, she was able to bag the Roland Garros or The French Open. Following her win, she became the world number one on June 24, 2019.

    At the moment, the tennis player is busy competing in the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament. The tournament's winner would earn $383,000 as of the prize money.  

    Ashleigh announced in an interview that if she wins the tournament, she will donate the prize money to the Red Cross to battle against the Australian brush fires. Though Barty didn't win the tournament (lost against Petra Kvitova), the player thinking about helping the world is a big thing.  

    Previously, she has been involved in various charity works. In mid-2019, she donated $10,000 to animal protection charity after winning the Fed Cup Heart Award.    

    Reason For Hiatus From Tennis For around 17 Months 

    Around September 2014, the tennis player took a break from the tennis world. She was out of the scene for 17 months as she only got back in February 2016. But why did she take a break?

    During her hiatus, she transitioned to semi-professional cricket, one of the games she wanted to make a career of. Was it because of this that she took a break from tennis?  

    Though at first, the player remained silent, she eventually stated that she needed some time to refresh mentally. 

    It became a bit of a slog for me and I wasn't enjoying my tennis as much as I would have liked to. 

    Barty never had retirement in her mind, and so she used to play the game casually. She practiced tennis every day though she was taking a break.   

    While on her break, she opted towards fishing, cricket, and even built a house close to her family. Ultimately, she came back to the sport she loved the most, tennis. 

    After a break and trying other things, I missed tennis and decided that I wanted to come back. 

    Well, she did come back to the sport and, in recent years, conquered the whole world with her skills. 

    Personal Life: Ashleigh Barty  

    Ashleigh Barty was born on April 24, 1996, in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. She is the daughter of Robert Barty and Josie Barty. She grew up with two siblings: Sara and Ali Barty. 

    Regarding education, she completed her bachelor's degree from Woodcrest State College. 

    Barty is dating Garry Kissick. The couple came out as a couple in late 2017 after Ashleigh brought Garry as her partner to the John Newcombe Medal presentation.
