    Diane Sawyer was born Lila Diane Sawyer on December 22, 1945, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the United States to parents, Erbon Powers Sawyer, and Jean W. Sawyer. Her father, Erbon, who was a politician, was murdered in a car accident in 1959.

    She has an older sibling named Linda Sawyer. People often confuse Linda with Late veteran TV producer Linda Sawyer who died in February 2019 due to surgical complications.   

    Regarding American TV journalists' academic qualifications, Sawyer attended Seneca High School. During that time, she was the editor-in-chief of the school's newspaper, The Arrow.   

    Later, in 1963, ABC News anchor won in national America's Junior Miss scholarship pageant. Then, in order to promote the Coca-Cola Pavilion at New York World's Fair, Diane went on a tour to America.  

    Moreover, former CBS reporter attended Wellesley College and earned a degree with a major in English. Also, she enrolled at the University of Louisville School of Law. 

    Personal Life

    Newscaster Diane Sawyer was married to media personality Mike Nichols on April 29, 1988. Like they promised on their wedding vows, the couple was together until death tore them apart. Sadly, Mike died on November 19, 2014, due to a heart attack. 

    The pair does not share any child; however, Nichols has three children, Jenny Nichols and Max Nichols, with third wife Annabel Davis-Goff and Daisy Nichols with second spouse Margo Callas.
