Franco De Vita was born Franco Atilio De Vita De Vito on January 23, 1954 in Caracas, Venezuela, to Italian parents Ferdinando De Vita and Rosa De Vito. At the time of this writing, he is 67 years old.  

He was raised in Rome, Italy before his family moved back to Venezuela when he was 13.  

He left his family behind and moved to New York on his own to pursue a musical career.

Franco De Vita has been a professional musician since 1982. His earliest foray into music was the band Corpus, formed in 1982. He went on to found Icaro after Corpus disbanded and they released a self-titled album.

De Vita went solo and released his eponymous debut solo studio album, Franco De Vita, in 1984.

He has since released twelve studio albums, four live albums, sixteen compilations, and over 40 singles.
