7. How old is Astrid Whettnall?

Astrid Whettnall is currently 49 years old. She was born on March 17, 1971, which makes her zodiac sign Pisces.

She is the daughter of Charles-Albert Ullens de Schooten Whettnall and Princess Madeleine Bernadotte. Her maternal grandparents were Elsa von Rosen and Prince Carl Bernadotte.

6. Where is Astrid Whettnall from?

Whettnall is from Uccle, located in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. The municipality is legally bilingual, with people speaking both French and Dutch language. 

Moreover, Belgians mostly belong to two ethnic groups: Flemings, who reside in the Dutch-speaking northern portion of Belgium, and Walloons, who live in the French-speaking southern portion of Belgium.

5. She Began Her Career in Theatre 

The 49 years old actress was trained at the Kleine Academy of Fine Arts located in Brussels, the capital city of Belgium.

She also received training at the Cours Raymond Girard in Paris. Eventually, Whettnall started her professional acting career as a stage actress in theatre. 

4. Her Big Breakthrough Came in 2012

The 49 years old actress made a leap into the big screen in the 2000s. However, she gained significant recognition after appearing in Vincent Lannoo's Belgian drama film In the Name of the Son.

She played as Elisabeth, a lead character, in the movie, which received seven nominations at the 4th Magritte Awards. Whettnall herself was nominated in Magritte Award for best actress.

3. Won the Magritte Award Four Years Later

Following the success of In the Name of the Son, Astrid worked in various television shows and movies, namely, Salaud, on t'aime, Yves Saint Laurent, The Missing, and Crossing Lines. 

In 2016, the 49 years old actress yet again was named as Elisabeth, interestingly, in the French-Algerian drama film Road to Istanbul. It was selected as the Algerian entry at the 90th Academy Awards for the best foreign-language film.

However, it did not receive any nominations in the Oscar. Nevertheless, Whettnall, who had been nominated at 4th Magritte four years ago, finally won the prestigious award in the same category in 2016. 

2. Doting Mother To Two Children

Whettnall is married to film director, Lionel Jadot. The couple has two children together: Victoria Jadot, born on September 3, 1997, and Joséphine Jadot, born on  December 16, 1999.

In addition to being a director, Jadot is a designer and owns a studio in the Tervuren municipality of Belgium. 

1. Is the Main Cast of Into the Night

The 49 years old actress co-stars as Gabrielle Renoir in the Belgian apocalyptic sci-fi drama thriller web television series Into the Night. 

The show takes inspiration from Jacek Dukaj's science fiction novel The Old Axolotl. It is the first Netflix Belgian original series, which premiered on May 1, 2020. 

Along with Whettnall, the series features international cast as Pauline Etienne, Laurent Capelluto, Vincent Londez, Regina Bikkinina, Alba Gaïa Bellugi, Babetida Sadjo, and Mehmet Kurtulus
