What You Need to Know About Jupiter's Legacy, Netflix's First Superhero-Themed Original Series: Cast, Plot Details, and Release Date

Jupiter's Legacy will be Netflix's first foray into a superhero-themed original series. The eight-part series will drop on Netflix sometime in 2021. 

Jupiter's Legacy is set to be the first in the Millarworld Universe created by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely and will cover the events of Jupiter's Legacy and its subsequent prequel, Jupiter's Circle with the first season focusing primarily on the first and second issues of the comic book series. 

What is Netflix's Jupiter's Legacy About? 

Jupiter's Legacy is an upcoming Netflix live-action adaptation of Mark Millar and Frank Quitely's eponymous superhero comic series.

The series tells the story of the first generation of superheroes who acquire their superpowers in the 1930s. Fast forward to the present world and their descendants must pick up the mantle and protect the modern world as it is today.

The series is an exploration of family dynamics, power, responsibility, and loyalty. 

The first season will primarily deal with the events covered in the first and second issues of both Jupiter's Legacy and Jupiter's Circle.

Who Are Announced To Star in Jupiter's Legacy?

Jupiter's Legacy will be helmed by a star-studded cast of actors. 

Josh Duhamel plays Sheldon Sampson / The Utopian, the patriarch of the Sampson family and the leader of the superhero team, The Union. 

Ben Daniels plays Walter Sampson / Brainwave, Sheldon Sampson's older brother. He is the more ruthless and sinister of the two. 

Leslie Bibb plays Grace Sampson / Lady Liberty, the matriarch of the Sampson family. She is the wife of Sheldon Sampson and the mother of Chloe and Brandon Sampson. 

Elena Kampouris plays Chloe Sampson, the older of two children of Sheldon and Grace Sampson. While Chloe inherited her parents' superpowers, she did not inherit their responsibility and flees from her superhero lineage.

Andrew Horton plays Brandon Sampson / Paragon, the younger child of Sheldon and Grace Sampson. He is the heir apparent to the mantle of his father's legacy as The Utopian.

Mike Wade plays Fitz Small / The Flare, a founding member of The Union who remains a valued member of the team despite his career-ending injury.

Matt Lanter plays George Hutchene / Skyfox, Sheldon Sampson's closest ally-turned-arch nemesis.   

Other names that have been announced also include Tenika Davis, Anna Akana, Tyler Mane, and Chase Tang.

What is the Release Date?

While a concrete release date has not been confirmed, the series is expected to drop sometime in 2021 and will have eight episodes in total.
