With the year coming to a close, we turn our eyes to 2021 in the hopes that it is hopefully a less stressful year than the one previous.  

In the midst of all the strife and turmoil in the world, the one constant has been Netflix and its penchant for delivering quality entertainment that provides much-needed levity in an otherwise dreary year.

The upcoming year is no different and judging by the titles alone, 2021 is set to be another great year for the streaming giant. 

In this article, we look at five such original series that have us the giddiest with excitement.    

5. Cowboy Bebop

Starting off the list hot is the upcoming live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, the genre-defining space Western anime series of the late-'90s.  

Produced by the same studios that developed the original anime series, the live-action adaptation will be helmed by John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda, Alex Hassell, and Elena Satine

4. Fate: The Winx Saga

This upcoming live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon animated series, Winx Club, will be a darker and edgier take on the fantasy-action-adventure series.

The release date is slated to be as early as January 22, 2021. The series is being billed as a young adult drama and as such, features actors like Abigail Cowen, Danny Griffin, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Elisha Applebaum, and Freddie Thorp, among others.     

3. Jupiter's Legacy

Capitulating on the success of the superhero series, The Boys, on rival streaming platform Amazon Prime, Netflix has plans on foraying into the superhero realm with its upcoming adaptation of Mark Millar and Frank Quitely's eponymous superhero comic series, Jupiter's Legacy.     

Among those announced to star in the series are Josh Duhamel, Leslie BibbBen Daniels, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade, Elena Kampourisand Matt Lanter

2. Anatomy of a Scandal

Anatomy of a Scandal is an upcoming anthology drama series brought to you by the creator of HBO's Big Little Lies, David E Kelley, and Netflix's House of Cards showrunner Melissa James Gibson

Set in London, the first season is adapted from Sarah Vaughan's eponymous novel and explores themes of sexual consent, power, and corruption.       

Michelle Dockery, Sienna MillerRiyonn Farsad, Naomi Scott, and Rupert Friend are only a few of the actors set to star in the upcoming drama series.   

1. Brand New Cherry Flavor

Our next original series finds us in 1990s-era Los Angeles, where a film director gets embroiled in a journey of supernatural revenge.
