Jim Beaver is an American actor, screenwriter, playwright, and film historian. He has been since 1972 and made his on-screen debut in 1977 in the movie, Semi-Tough

He has gone on to have a celebrated forty-eight-year career with close to 150 acting credits under his belt.  

He is most known for playing Bobby Singer in the WB dark-fantasy-drama series, Supernatural; Whitney Ellsworth in the HBO western, Deadwood; and Chuck Phillips in the Netflix sitcom, The Ranch.

7. Father To Daughter, Madeline Rose Beaver, With Ex-Wife, Cecily Adams  

Beaver is currently married to his third wife, actress/singer Sarah Spiegel. They started dating in 2016 and in engaged in May 2018. They tied the knot on June 20, 2019.

Beaver had been married twice prior. He married his college sweetheart, Deborah S. Young, on August 10, 1973. They ended up separating after four months, although their divorce would only be finalized after three years, on October 1, 1976.  

Beaver married for the second time to actress/casting director, Cecily Adams. They started dating in 1985 and tied the knot four years later, on May 7, 1989. Cecily was the daughter of legendary comic/actor, Don Adams

Jim became a father for the first (and only) time when Cecily gave birth to their daughter, Madeline Rose Beaver, in August 2001. Their marriage ended when Cecily passed away on March 3, 2004, at age 46, after succumbing to lung cancer.

6. Played Bobby Singer In Supernatural

Out of his nearly 150 acting credits, his most famous is perhaps his turn as Bobby Singer in The WB's dark-fantasy-supernatural-horror drama, Supernatural

Bobby Singer was one of the recurring characters on the long-running drama series (currently in the last half of its concluding fifteenth season, on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Bobby was "monster hunter" and a father figure to the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki). As Bobby Singer, Jim made at least one appearance per season right up to the fifteenth season.

Jim Beaver was born James Norman Beaver, Jr. on August 12, 1950, in Laramie, Wyoming. As of May 2020, Jim Beaver is 69 years old. He stands at 5 feet 11 inches (1.8 meters). 

The eldest and the only son among four born to minister James Norman Beaver, Sr., and Dorothy Adell Crawford, Jim's sisters are Denise, Reneé, and Teddlie.

Beaver was raised in Irving, Texas, and attended Irving High School before transferring to Fort Worth Christian Academy during his senior year. He graduated in 1968 and Fort Worth Christian College and later, Oklahoma Christian College.

Beaver is also known for his guest appearances as Chuck Phillips in the Netflix sitcom, The Ranch.

Starring a line-up of such actors like Ashton Kutcher, Sam Elliott, Danny Masterson, Debra Winger, and Elisha Cuthbert, the sitcom is based around the lives and adventures of the Bennett family: a family of ranchers and their fictional Colorado ranch, the Iron River Ranch.

Beaver's character, Chuck Phillips, is the father of Cuthbert's character, Abby Phillips-Bennett

The sitcom ran for four seasons from April 1, 2016, to January 24, 2020.

3. Starred As Whitney Ellsworth In The HBO Western, Deadwood

Another of Jim's acclaimed TV roles came in the HBO western, Deadwood. The series starred Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane, as the fictionalized versions of the real-life residents of Deadwood, South Dakota, during the 1870s: Seth Bullock and Al Swearengen, respectively.   

The show ran on HBO for three seasons from March 21, 2004, to August 27, 2006, and during that time, was able to receive widespread acclaim and eight Emmy Awards.

Beaver played Whitney Ellsworth,  a prospector and the husband of Molly Parker's character, Alma Garret.

For as acclaimed as he would go on to be as an actor, Jim Beaver never stopped being a fan of acting. He has a wealth of knowledge about actors and the acting industry.
