In 1995, Shawn along with fellow musician Paul Gray formed a metal band known as the Pale Ones. They added Joey Jordison as their drummer and released a song entitled “Slipknot” in 1996. After Joey’s suggestion, they officially changed their name to Slipknot and released their first official album.
He later brought in Corey Taylor as the band’s vocalist after he felt that the original vocalist for Slipknot was too guttural. They released their official debut album titled in 1999.
The album gained major notability and toured with Ozzfest the same year. Shawn has sung backing vocals for several songs for the band which has been recorded and performed live.
Likewise, he also wrote Tattered & Torn which was featured on the band’s first album, Mate. Feed. Kill, Repeat.
