Katonah Marrero, famous with the stage name Young M.A is a popular American rapper. As of 2022, she is estimated at $4 million. Besides a rapper, she is also a singer and songwriter. 

Young M.A is best known for her single "OOOUUU." Similarly, some of her notable songs are BIG, Car Confessions, Eat, She Like I'm Like, BROOKLYN, and others. 

Rising Career   

American rapper Young M.A was only nine years old when she began rapping. Seeing her talent, her mother bought her a karaoke machine and set up the studio in her closet.   

Then, she became the lead vocalist of the rap group, Money Makers. Later, she started doing some small jobs to make enough money for a recording studio to make her career in music. 

In 2014, she released the song titled BROOKLYN. She, however, did not get the responses she expected. People found the lyrics of the song quite controversial and blamed her for promoting black racial killing, violence, and negativity.

A year later, the then-rising rapper released her debut mixtape, M.A The Mixtape, in 2015, and this time, she successfully won the hearts of the people. The same year, she again came with her second mixtape titled Sleepwalking. 

The 27-year-old star gained massive popularity after dropping her successful single, OOOUUU in 2016. As of November 2019, the official video of her single has 312 million views on her YouTube channel.  

Moreover, Young M.A collaborated with rappers such as Young Thug and Dae DAE in the song Spend It. Besides that, she has appeared in various TV shows such as Wendy Williams' Wendy Williams Show, Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and MTV Woodies. 

As of 2019, she is considered one of the famous and richest female rappers of 2019.   

Raised By Single Mother 

Young M.A was born Katorah Marrero on April 3, 1992, in Brooklyn, New York, United States. She was only a year older when her father, Puerto Rican, was prisoned for around a decade until she was 11 years old. 

The rapper and her brother Kenneth Ramos were raised by a single mother, Jamaican. 

Regarding her education, the rapper attended Sheepshead Bay High School.

Struggle To Come Out

5 feet 5 inches tall rapper Young M.A is openly lesbian. In one of her interviews, she said that she liked girls since she was in the first grade. When asked about her sexuality, she said:

"No, I'm Young M.A . . . . We don't do no labels. I just wouldn't date a guy. Nah bro, I don't like that."

Again in another interview, she disclosed that she was afraid to share her orientation to her mother, thinking how would she react.  

She revealed: 

"I used to be scared to tell my moms, though I knew my moms wasn't the type of mother to be like 'Oh, I don't like you' or 'I'm gonna ignore you,' but part of me still was scared."

When she was 18, she finally came out as a lesbian and was happily accepted by her family. 

Taking about her dating life, as per some sources, Young M.A was dating the American model and Instagram star Tori Brixx. The couple is entirely private about their relationships.

There are also rumors about their break up which was further fueled when Tori was spotted being cozy with American rapper Rich The Kid on the red carpet of American Music Awards 2019.
